Challenge of Change

Hey friends, crazy topic for today! And yes I am definitely not talking about the change that we never get from our government servants on public transports 🙂

Today’s blog post is inspired by the above mentioned picture – ‘The Road to Change’.

‘Change’ was a very influential word in 2007-2008 when Mr.Obama was running for his presidential campaign. His slogan made quiet an impact on the psyche of USA citizens – the most influential nation of the world. The result was that we saw a sea of change in global issues and also we continue to notice them till date.

But let us focus a bit closer inside our country.A young country with ancient and wise values.A few years back, for us, the word change generally marked the seasonal change in climate that lead to change in clothing, change in harvesting, change in attire, change in shoes(rainy shoes),change in moods(irritated mood of summers to the romantics of rain),change in sports(rainy season meant arrival of football and departure from cricket).

We welcomed this change in our lives with warmth and enthusiasm and treated it with love for a good healthy span of minimum 3-4 months. That was the average span of summer, rainy and winter season before a certain Mr.Global Warming came into the rosy picture. Now a days we have 10 months of summer and a few days of rain and winter; at least where I stay :-).

But the most remarkable aspect that we have plainly neglected or on purpose ignore in our daily life is the everyday fight with this element of change. Earlier change in any product, or season, or even in a persons life was marked with an assumed time interval. This time interval was based on the experiences of anyone and everyone around you.

Example: Change in life : College of life – 3 years after XII and then a job;Change in product : A company manufacturing a product would give at least 4-6 months for their customers to get used to their new innovation;Change in season – All assumed that a certain season would last for 3-4 months etc.

Infact, it was less of assumption and more of mutually accepted facts of the world we live in. But now things change every month, every week, every day, every hour, minute and second.

The change that I speak of is of two types :

1)Man/Woman made change – Invention of mobile. We have new versions of n mobiles burning our markets everyday, new softwares, new clothing lines, new modes of transport, new bench marks in careers and school percentage, new rates of food prices, fossil fuels and transport rates etc.

2)Changes directly influenced by Man/Woman – Global Warming.

Also now a days we have assigned a new speed to our lives.Such is the frantic speed of our lives that even 24 hours fall short to cover the scope of our plans for the day. Here is one aspect of the reason behind it.Earlier we used to enjoy change. But now every aspect of change presents a new challenge to us. We are directly or indirectly occupied in negotiating this challenge of change.Yes my friends – negotiating for even we know in our hearts that it does not matter whether we win or lose the challenge, either ways by the time we are done with one challenge of change; a new set of change stares straight down our eyes and then we start again the process of negotiating with it.Negotiation saves us from the false euphoria of victory or loss against this ever changing nature of challenge of change.

Just think of all the positive changes that have happened around and also in your lives and in your neighbourhood for the last few  years and compare them with the negative ones and then please answer the simple poll.

Now we cannot control this ever challenging nature of change. But we have got to face it and rather endure it.I feel the only way to break free is to keep things simple in life and now overcrowd our lives with the unwanted elements.

May be in keeping things simple and natural lies our answer to the challenge of change. And also most importantly believe in the line that –  ‘Be the change that you wish to see in the World’
