Waiting at the reception area can actually be a daunting task in itself.Most of the times people wait in the reception area of a corporate office to appear for an interview.If the candidate is lucky then he gets over with his interview in no time.But if incase the concerned person is busy then the candidate has to wait for a very long time. A person can do many a things by just sitting at one place in the reception area.Play around with the mobile, observe the employees passing by and the way they interact,notice how the receptionist pretend to be busy with her phone calls so on so forth. But all these hardly brings any excitement or happiness as one is completely concerned about the interview that he/she has come to attend.
An interviewer or a HR Professional comes across countless candidates.Some are exceptional,some are good,some are average,some are below par.Many a times this classification unknowinlgly happens depending upon the experience and qualification of a person.There is nothing one can do about it.
But there an area wherein you can help the candidate. Always remember that any candidate that comes for an interview is in need for assurance,sureity or gaurantee in his life .On completion of the interview ,as a HR person, be kind to tell him the result instead of making him wait for many a days.If the answer is not available with you; maybe because you have to wait for someone else’s evaluation details then inform the candidate about the same. Be kind enough to give the person a time frame and ensure you adhere to the time frame given.If possible please inform the person about the basic requirements for attending an interview.Always remember that not all are as polished or sophisticated as you might be.Be kind and generous to share the knowledge about how to excel in an interview, just the bsaic tips and ideas.
Please note that the ones who require something look at the ones who are positioned to give, thorugh eyes, filled with anticipation and hope.Do not crush these vital emotions in a person. Help and if possible guide that person.It will hardly take you a minute or two to explain the basics but and at the same time it will help the candidate immensly by showing him the right direction or approach.
