What is your Legacy?

How do you want to be remembered by? Do you in your life time plan to leave any legacy. If a chance comes accidentally, then would muster the courage to grab it ?Are you brave enough to look outside your comfort zone and gaze into the abyss of unknown?

A glance on our ancestors work and we realize what they have given to this world. Our soldiers, freedom fighters, social activists all have carved a niche for themselves in the society and have made their actions so powerful that they simply influence us, inspire us and motivate us in their own unique ways.

Look carefully they too are like you.Have you ever thought will you ever be able to achieve something like this in your life? Ever considered your potential when it comes to inspiring others? What is your legacy? If you feel you are too young to think about it then let me pose the same question in a different way. How will people remember you after you are gone? When a time comes when they would no longer be able see you in their immediate environment. And please note I am not talking about people who have facebook accounts so that you can remain friends with.I am talking about those people who hardly matter in your life but you do happen to interact with them regularly due to various factors viz. your housekeeping boy or girl who cleans your desk, your juniors, the courier person who visits your office etc. Ever wondered how they will remember you or think about you?

They will always remember you the way you made them feel in those few moments of interaction which usually lasts for a few seconds.Give them respect, acknowledge their work,be caring.Summon all your good qualities which will make people happy and comfortable.Give them sincere respect.Try it and let me know.It is easy to look down upon someone only because they may not as well-educated or qualified, maybe because their communications skills are poor etc.The hard part is making them and their work look valued. Your actions make a difference in their lives.

It is a small step which if you want, you can embrace it or if you want, you can forget it.

Perhaps if you manage to achieve this then may be they will remember you in a more fond way rather than as a just another person. They might replicate your action in their own lives because someone was kind enough to show them respect and mercy when they felt they would never get it.Your actions might inspire your colleagues to carry forward the good work.

Right actions taken in such directions have the potential to become your legacy.A legacy everyone can be proud of and most importantly you yourself can be proud of.

  2. What an inspiring and thought-provoking post! I think it’s very important to think about what you do, why you do it, and who will be affected by your words and actions. It doesn’t matter what position someone holds in life as you should treat everyone with equal amounts of respect and kindness – you never know whose life you may touch by just a kind word or deed.

    Lovely post! 🙂
