Yesterday I got the All Season Tenali Raman series from Flipkart.com. I have recently started to use the web portal of Flipkart to buy books, music and movie DVD’s. Its excellent and most importantly it provides us with the option of ‘Cash on Delivery.’
The website and many others similar in function, have provided us with great opening to get in touch with our childhood memories.Yes, you do have the small images carved in your brains along with the opening song of your favourite serial on your lips of the bygone era, but to get a chance to buy the entire serial, movie or books is simply priceless. I saw the first episode yesterday and wondered how lucky I was to have been influenced to great extent by the high quality programmes,in terms of quality and social message imparted, beamed by the good old Doordarshan channel. Times have changed and many channels have made entry into the entertainment field of television, but very few bother to highlight the beauty of serials like Tenali Raman, Malgudi Days, Bharat Ek Khoj etc.
Tenali Raman serial reminded me of a time when life was simpler and it actually made sense to live and keep life that way – Simple. Comparing it to current scenario, it seems that the world believes in complicating affairs not only for itself but also for others. The more I see of the world and its affairs – military , cultural, economical, social the more it looks to me like a Kangaroo who is not quiet being able to make what to do with its limbs and greatly confused in deciding whether the tail is the fifth leg or simple a tail OR like an Owl who is hell-bent to fly during the day and sleep at night.
So many of us try to bite more than we can chew without completely knowing whether do we have the capacity to digest it in the first place. People act as if they are going to live forever.
But nonetheless I glad that websites such as Flipkart, Indiaplaza, Dial A Book are there to help me reconnect with an era when almost everything was the way it should be and most importantly the people tried to keep it that way.
