Bhagvad Gita

Bhagvad Gita is in news nowadays for reasons which are very unfortunate in nature. A Russian court is currently witnessing a trial which might ban the great book from Russia. Bhagvad Gita is the very basis and gist of the values on which the foundation of the Great Indian Civilization has been nurtured. Please note that India, in the last 5000 – 7000 years, has never attacked or invaded any country. I wonder how many countries can boost of such a record.

Many great souls – freedom fighters, scientists, philosophers have taken inspiration from this great book which has only helped to move the civilization of MANKIND forward.

Here are a few of my favourite quotes from this book:

1) “The wise sees knowledge and action as one; they see truly”

2) “Sever the ignorant doubt in your heart with the sword of self-knowledge. Observe your discipline. Arise.”

3) “In battle, in the forest, at the precipice in the mountains, On the dark great sea, in the midst of javelins and arrows, In sleep, in confusion, in the depths of shame, The good deeds a man has done before defend him”

4) “The mind is restless and difficult to restrain, but it is subdued by practice.”

5) “Hell has three gates: lust, anger, and greed”

6) “To the illumined man or woman, a clod of dirt, a stone, and gold are the same.”

7) “Unnatural work produces too much stress.”

8) “Hypocrisy, arrogance, pride, anger, harshness, and ignorance; these are the marks of those who are born with demonic qualities, O Arjuna.”

9) A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return”

10) “There is nothing lost or wasted in this life.”
