THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT DAYS IN YOUR LIFE ARE THE DAY YOU ARE BORN, AND THE DAY YOU FIND OUT WHY. ~ Mark Twain
I wonder if Mark Twain himself remembered about the day he was born. For that matter can anyone remember the day when they were born? Everything is alien. It is a moment wherein everything is about us, but we are too naive to understand – Or are We? Who can claim this with certainty? I feel, we might be remembering that moment – Our grand arrival at the stage of Mother Earth, but somehow that sweet memory often gets lost in the hordes of the unnecessary ones we make and experience, intentionally and unintentionally, throughout our life; till the day one sit’s down to search for the glimpse of first smile and feeling of pride on your mothers face when she held you. The moment when your being alive made sense. The moment when nothing was defined and everything was simply…… everything. Tracing that memory might actually help you connect with the real you, the you as you were born, a moment where Crying and Laughing were not defined. Smile and Tear held no value. No Gratitude or Jealousy. Just strangers around you with peaceful emotions on their face. Wonder if one can even ever relate to being peaceful when born. And even if one does, how will one know for sure that those were the exact very emotions. It is very difficult to pin down an emotion which can one can confidently claim to have experienced when born.
But, with regards to the other day in the above saying – THE DAY YOU FIND OUT WHY – is the day that makes the difference. That is TRUE! So many of us are fortunate enough to know why they are born for, very early in life, which enable us to effectively shape their careers by making the right educational choices. But there are many who realise the purpose of their being on the stage of Mother Earth in times when it is very difficult to walk back and restart again.
I feel, knowing what needs to be done, is only 50% of the matter and the other 50% depends on what you do with the Knowing. Knowing what needs to be done early in life is truly a divine blessing and to have suitable means at your disposal to achieve it is yet another divine blessing. What you do with the Knowing actually shapes the journey of your life from that day on.
I pray that all in this world are blessed enough to be able to retrace that earliest of all emotions of their birth. This will help you cleanse the unnecessary ones that might have clinged onto you during your journey so far. Perhaps remembering the first day might lead to the actual understanding of the second day mention in the above phrase – The Knowing. It might make you realise how very far have you deviated from your journey and help you to reapply yourselves better. It might aid in doing justice to the first drops of happiness which must have flowed down an emotional mother’s cheek on seeing her child, a part of her being, her gift to the world.
Tip : Perhaps the best way to find out is to ask your own mother about it. I pray you all find the necessary answers in her kindness.
