“A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions.” – Confucius
Now a days when I look around, I see more of talk and less of action. More of promises and less of performance. What ever happened to the quality of being forthright and calling a spade a spade? Why is it a norm for people to over promise something and under achieve?
Now, I know that the above perhaps does not lie in tangent direction of the stated words of Confucius. But if we are to define or describe a superior man, then perhaps the first quality that we must talk about is that he would be true to himself. If you are true to your own self then you will be sincere and honest in your actions too. The values of honesty are best practised on oneself and only then can they be implemented in a much better way while interacting in a society.
If one is honest with himself, then he will be true in all his thoughts and actions. He will not go around advertising himself for he is comfortable with the values and qualities he possesses and is aware about their strength and weakness. Based on this very knowledge, he can communicate with the world in an honest and true manner. Such actions do glow in the grace of their own divinity and sets the person apart from the rest.
Such an honest person will concentrate more on his ability and actions and less on his words while dealing in day-to-day world. He believes in the idiom – Actions speak louder than words.
The above mentioned qualities sets his apart from the rest and I feel, truly compliments the above stated words of Confucius.
