Wisdom of Socrates

Wisdom begins in wonder. -Socrates

True words indeed. When something truly amazes us, we begin to wonder on its various dimensions, aspects and properties. When we wonder, we activate the learning senses of our body to dwell on the aspects that have amazed our senses.

Such moments are indeed a treat for our intellect and senses. Just the way, when we eat something tasty and dwell on the taste of various ingredients that go into making of it, our senses feast on the moments that challenge and excite us. Such moments gives us the necessary fodder to grow with and through the experience.

Now, not always will such experience be bright and positive. At times one also comes across a strong negative experience. But, through them all, once all has been successfully lived, all one is left with is an experience. This experience can be termed enriching, if our senses are used to grind whatever intellect that experience holds, leaving us wiser than the moment before.

Hence, the above words by Socrates rightly hold true – Wisdom begins in wonder.
