On the 15th August every year, we celebrate our Independence Day.
Many take the meaning and fruits of Independence for granted. Independence is that rare tree for which many have sacrificed their lives, families, love and many precious aspects that make our life, in the post independence era, complete.
The sweetest fruit that one can enjoy off this tree of Independence if ‘Respect’. So many freedom fighters laid down their lives and invested many decades of their lives in the sweet dream of Independence. They all believed in the idea of their own country, their own culture, their own self – which most importantly was devoid of the feeling of selfishness. So many things that people take for granted, had to be earned in the pre – independence era; most important of them all was ‘Respect’.
India has fought many wars with the neighboring countries. Its young soldiers have sacrificed their lives so that the citizens can enjoy what the freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives for – Respect and Freedom.
Do you value the hard-earned independence? Do you value the brave soldiers and bravely defended independence? Do you value the infinite drops of tear and drops of blood that have been instrumental in giving India its own identity and also protected the hard-earned freedom and respect?
Think on the above questions and be true to yourself, for the ones who have grinded their lives in planting the seed of independence and ensuring its protection, have always thought of you. It is because of them that you enjoy the various fruits of independence which otherwise, without the courage and valor of our freedom fighters and brave soldiers, would have only been a pipe dream.
Under the cool shade of the banyan tree of independence, are we now enjoying various branches of art, literature, drama, science etc. which otherwise would have perhaps been alien to us.
It is the responsibility of every Indian to refresh and keep alive in their minds the memories of all those who have been instrumental in achieving us freedom and also for protecting the same. The spirit of their love, courage, sacrifice, honour must be honored and remembered with sincerity.
Let us act infuse the force of patriotism in our lives and honour the ones who have lived and dies by the same force of patriotism. Let us celebrate 15th August and 26th January every day. Let the pride of the country which proudly stands, from the tips of Himalayas to the blessed waters of Kanyakumari and from the beautiful scenic stretches of the seven sisters of north-east to the mighty western frontiers, throb in your veins. May this pride inspire you to achieve all the success in your respective fields which will make the world proud of your existence.
Live up to the privilege of and true qualities of independence. May your actions bring peace to all those who have sacrificed their everything so that you may breath in the ‘Air of Free’.
